Nurturing Health...What does this mean?
How do you truly cultivate health, wellness, and vitality?
Health and wellness do not only deal with how your physical body feels or looks…how you feed it or move it.
It is definitely not a one size fits all AND just because one thing worked during a chapter of your life does not mean it is what you need for every chapter of your life.
As a matter of fact you are a constantly changing being in so many ways and this means your needs are constantly changing just like a river changes with rising or lowering water levels, trees or rocks shift flow patterns, clear water or muddy water…the moon changes signs and phases, the Earth flows through seasons…
You may be wondering, “What do I need to know to be truly health and well, to thrive?” Lets take a look at the six layers of our being and a few things to kick off the pondering for each one:
Physical: How are you nourishing your body with food, relationships, entertainment, nature…Are your finances and vocation supportive or draining? Do you need gentle or vigorous movement right now? Are you getting enough rest?
Mental: Is that voice in your head supportive or your biggest critic? Do you spend most of your time from the neck up or in your body? Is your brain your hardest worker, leading the charge of your life or is it more of a supplement to your day-to-day?
Emotional: Do you stuff your feelings away or let them blast all over others? Do you take time to truly feel your emotions? Can you name what you are feeling right now and where in your body you feel it? Do you set aside space to process past events?
Spiritual: What is your relationship with unconditional love, a higher power, guides or angels, your intuitive gifts, nature, your most authentic self?
Energetic: How are you facilitating the movement of life force through your body? Do you have areas of pain, tightness, heaviness in your body? Do you have practices for moving stagnation, releasing blocks, cleansing…do you have healthy boundaries? Do you have a lot of energy or feel constantly fatigued?
Sexual: Do you tune into your creativity and creative potential? Do you honor your natural rhythms and cycles? Are you always on the go or do you take time to rest or hibernate?
These six layers of your being are a great way to get know your unique needs and check-in with yourself on a routine basis, little by little. Making big or small shifts can change the entire trajectory of your health, wellness, and entire life!
